Ashley Wilson, the Aquatic Ambassador at Tynemouth Pool

The August bank holiday Kellogg’s Free Family Swim day at Tynemouth and Lakeside pools in North Tyneside celebrated further success in the project with 130 families making a splash during the day.

For the first time the project piloted the use of aquatic ambassadors. These were qualified swimming teachers who were on hand to provide families with advice in the water ranging from tips on how to swim, when lessons take place, how to use a noodle, to getting around the pool. The friendly aquatic ambassadors were kitted out with a t-shirt so families were able to identify them easily and were also on hand to give all families a Kellogg’s goodie bag and certificate for taking part in the day.
