Everyday Swim Launch National Seminar Programme
09 Sep 2009 21:38

The swimming industry is being given a unique opportunity to learn how to get more people into the pool more often.

This October, the ASA will be delivering five free national seminars as part of its commitment to share the good practice identified from its Everyday Swim project.  Everyday Swim was a national pilot project that aimed to find out ‘what works’ in getting more people into our pools.

The seminars each feature guest speaker Duncan Goodhew, Everyday Swim National Ambassador and Olympic gold medallist. They are aimed at individuals involved in the planning, delivery and operational side of activities in swimming pools and are an opportunity to hear first hand examples of what can be done to drive up participation.

They will be particularly useful for almost 300 local councils who are providing swimming free of charge for people aged 60 and over – and the more than 200 who are offering free swimming to those aged 16 and under via the government’s Free Swimming initiative.

The dates and venues for the seminars are:

1 October – Hilton Deansgate, Manchester

6 October – Mercure Holland House Hotel & Spa, Bristol

7 October – London Strand Palace Hotel, London

14 October – The Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle

20 October - The Studio, Birmingham

The seminars have been arranged as part of the second phase of the Everyday Swim project, which has seen two of the eight of the original Everyday Swim pilot areas – Islington and Suffolk – awarded the status of ‘Everyday Swim Good Practice Centres’ until March 2010.
