Sunderland Swimmers Receive Sporting Excellence Grant

Two talented members of City of Sunderland Swimming Club were awarded a grant towards training and competition costs by Sunderland City Council’s Sporting Excellence Body. This is a charitable group who award grants to young people in the Sunderland area who are committed and achieving at a high level within their sport.

Both Eleni Papadopoulos and Matthew Wylie are very successful swimmers representing the Region in Disability and Able Bodied competitions. Eleni is part of the British Disability team who travel to Reykjavik in Iceland for the IPC European Championships this month.

The presentation took place on Thursday 24th September at Sunderland Civic Centre by the Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland.
