The Inaugural County Durham Primary Schools Swimming Gala took place on 30th January 2008 at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.

Over 200 pupils from years 3-6 took part. School Swimming Development Officer Lee Dalzell said of the event,
"Events like this encourage children to live active healthy lifestyles and to take part in a sport they might not otherwise have the opportunity to compete in."
